A praise to the Lord for he is holy.
Verse | Observation | Interpretation | Application |
1The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. 2Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. 3Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy. 4The King is mighty, he loves justice— you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. 5Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. | The psalmist instructs to praise the Lord because he is holy. He has done what is just and right in Israel (Jacob's another name is Israel, and in this case it seems to refer to the nation). | ||
6Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the Lord and he answered them. 7He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them. 8O Lord our God, you answered them; you were to Israela a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.b 9Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. | The Lord answered Samuel and Moses. It should be noted that the two of them called to the Lord and kept his statutes and decrees. Also, the Lord is forgiving but he still punished Israel's misdeeds. Then again, the psalmist repeats the instruction to worship the Lord because he is holy. | It is possible to be forgiving yet not forget. From here on out I want to discover Biblical forgiveness, because I always seem to associate forgiveness with forgetting. |
Feel free to correct me if there is anything wrong in my understanding of the Bible. I am not a Bible scholar or anything, I'm just studying the Word of God.
