John 1:1, 14-18
v1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
v14-18 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.
John testified concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'" From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
Three things Jesus did in the Incarnation
A. Jesus Embodies the Grace and Truth of God for all Humanity.
John said that the "Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth." Grace and truth refers to the sum total of divine revelation. Grace and mercy of God as well as His Truth and Holiness.
B. Jesus extended that Grace and Truth to all of Humanity
v. 16-17
C. Jesus Expand's Man's View of God
v. 18
In 1 John 5:11, John would write this,
"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
